What to do if there is a Fire in Your
Forest
If there is a fire in your forest you should immediately contact your nearest
fire brigade. Your fire
plan should be kept up to date with the contact details of your nearest fire
brigade.
If insured, contact your insurer as soon as possible after the fire to begin the
process of making your claim.
If the fire was caused by a land fire make sure that you report the fire to your local
Garda station.
You should also inform your forester or forest manager who should be able to guide you on
various issues such as replanting.
Remember that if you do not replant following loss of forestry due to fire you may be
liable to repay grants and premiums to the Forest Service, as well as being at the loss of income. Loss of Growth cover compensates you for the capital
loss of your crop (no need to insure the land value). Reconstitution cover provides for cover towards replanting costs of your forestry. Download
